"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" (Hebrews 11:1).
I was born blind. The eyes of my heart were dysfunctional, fixed on the depraved self. Slowly but surely, the God of the universe, Creator of my heart, began to scrape away the disease clouding my view.
No longer was my worth married to appearance.
No longer was perfectionism my crown and sorrow.
No longer was life for self, dreams and ambitions I had molded, my goal.
No longer was my security tied to wealth and comfort on earth.
No longer was guilt a defining reality of who I was.
No longer was guilt a defining reality of who I was.
No longer was I dependent on self.
The "no longer"s are not "no longer." Rather, my Provider and Sustainer continues to heal me, dividing sinful flesh from spiritual bone. Every day I am more broken than the last, cracked beyond repair. Just as well! The more cracks that mar my tattered frame, the easier it will be for His light to shine through. My "Sun"--the Nourishment I need but cannot produce--is the One I am certain of and in whom my hope rests. I was born blind, but now I see Him, though through a glass darkly...One day I will see Him face to face, forever healed and whole!
