"It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish." --Mother Theresa

I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.  --Helen Keller

WE ARE ORPHANS.   Left to die in the wreckage of our sin.  Thankfully, Jesus said, "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you" (John 14:18).  Now He calls us to stand up for those who have no voice, just as He intercedes for us before the Father on a continual basis.   Are you standing, or sitting?  If you don't know where else to begin, start by praying for the thousands of children who are without a mother and father as the sun sets on today.  You never know, God just might give you His passion for the defenseless.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world" (James 1:27).

"The Lord watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow..." (Psalm 146:9).

"...Seek justice, encourage the oppressed.  Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow" (Is. 1:17).

"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.  And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt" (Deut. 10: 18-19)

I am adopted!  "But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.  Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, 'Abba,' Father.  So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir" (Gal. 4:4-7)

"I saw the face of Jesus in a little orphan girl
She was standing in the corner on the other side of the world
And I heard the voice of Jesus gently whisper to my heart
Didn't you say you wanted to find me?
Well here I am, here you are
So, What now?
What will you do now that you found Me?
What now?
What will you do with this treasure you've found?
I know I may not look like what you expected
But if you remember this is right where I said I would be
You've found me
What now?"
(from Steven Curtis Chapman's "What Now?")
